During June, PDEI started the prepratary work for implementing plan 2010-11 by introducing revised objectives and curriculum of the programmes to its functionaries. The process included discussion and hands on work with children to pilot new ideas. It reached out to 6,239 children in 5 zones of Delhi during the pilot and regular programme.

Balwadi
Trainings of Balwadi Teachers- During the month, Balwadi trainers conducted 6 day training sessions with the aim of imparting revised Balwadi curriculum and one month planner to the volunteers who joined Balwadi for session 2010-11. The supervisors who would be monitoriong the programme during the year worked in 2 units of Balwadi directly apart from partticipating in the trainings. Season’s theme which includes “hawa, garmi, baarish” was conducted both in the two Balwadis and Anganwadis in which PDEI is working. 198 Pratham volunteers were active in 264 Anganwadi centers engaging 5,113 children. Thus, our total pre-school coverage during the month was 5,156 children.
Community Based Learning Centers
Trainings of Learning Center Incharges- PDEI has set up community based centers to provide learning support to children of Std. III-V who require supplimentary learning support and whose parents cannot afford private tuition. Total 121 units of summer camps were operational enrolling 1,083 children. During the month, the main focus was to give shape to the plan proposed for the upcoming session and is to be implemented from July onwards. PDEI has decided to provide supplimentary learning support in 3 subjects viz environmental Sciences, English and Maths. Thye content team identified and conducted the trainings of master trainers between June 1-19, 2010. This training included development of core centent, process of content delivery, assessment tools and time line for pre and post testing. PDEI volunteers were also shortlisted for this programme in 5 zones.
School Based Library (SBL)- Trainings of SBL Teachers
In school based library programme, SBL Incharges started the process of screening teachers. All 9 SBL Incharges after taking trainings at head office started conducted trainings in their respective zones of selected volunteers for R1 and R2 curriculum. This training included classroom content and pedagogy, assessment tool and time line for pre and post test.
