Outcome Assessment: MCD School based programme 2009-10

Standard 1

  • Standard I: The percentage of nothing level children dropped from 96.5% in pre test to 30% in the post test i.e. a drop of 66.5 percentage points.
  • The percentage of Children who can at least read letter and above has increased from 3.5% in pre test to 70% in post test i.e. an increase of 66.5 percentage points.

Standard 2

  • Standard II: The percentage of children on nothing and letter dropped from 78% in pre test to 36.8% in post test i.e. drop of 42 percentage points. The percentage of children who can at least read word and above has increased from 22% to 63.2% i.e. an increase of 41.2 percentage points.

Standard 3

  • Standard III: the percentage of nothing and letter children dropped from 58.3% in pre test to 15.6% by post test. The percentage of children who could read at least paragraph and above increased from 26% to 66% i.e. an increase of 40 percentage points.

Standard 4

  • Standard IV: The percentage of nothing level children dropped from 5% to 0.7% in post test. The percentage of children who can read at least paragraph and above increased from 55.8% to 85.2% i.e. 30.6 percentage points.

Standard 5

  • Standard V: The percentage of children at Nothing and letter level reduced from 13.4 to mere 2% by the post test. The percentage of children who can read at least paragraph and above increased from 74.2% to 94% by post test, leaving only 3.8% children at word level.

(A) BOOK ISSUE - RETURN IN SCHOOL BASED PROGRAM:

  • About 56% of the children in February had borrowed about 1 to 10 books.
  • About 40% of the children who borrowed books between 11 to 30.
  • There are about 86 children who have borrowed atleast 71 books or more.

ENGLISH ASSESSMENT

Standard 3 English

Standard III: The percentage of children at nothing dropped from 49% in pre test to 7.2% in post test. The percentage of children who can read at least word and above increased from 9% to 54.5% by post test i.e. an increase of 45.5 percentage points.

Standard 4 English

Standard IV: The percentage of children at the nothing level dropped from 32.2% to 3.7% in post test. The percentage of children at word and above increased from 21.3% to 68.7% i.e. an increase of 47 percentage points.

Standard 5 English

Standard V: The percentage of children at the nothing level dropped from 20.1% to 1.7% in post test. The percentage of children who can read word and above increased from 34.7% to 79.2% in post test i.e. an increase of 44.5 percentage points.

CONVERSATION:

The 4 questions asked were;

  • Is this a ship?
  • Who is she?
  • What is he doing?
  • Where is the boy?

Standard III: The % of children who can answer question 1 in complete sentence has increased from 4.2% to 22.6% in post test i.e. an increase of 18.4 percentage points. Similarly, for question 2,3 and 4 the percentage of children in pre test was2.3%,2.1% and 1.6% respectively and this has increased to 14.7%,11.2% and 9.5% .

Standard IV: The % of children who can answer question 1 in complete sentence has increased from 6.8% to 26.7% in post test i.e. an increase of 20.1 percentage points. Similarly, for question 2,3 and 4 the percentage of children in pre test was 4.8%,3.4% and 2.5% respectively and this has increased to 16.7%,11.5% and 9.7% .

Standard V: The % of children who can answer question 1 in complete sentence has increased from 10.8% to 31.2% in post test i.e. an increase of 20.4 percentage points. Similarly, for question 2,3 and 4 the percentage of children in pre test was 7.6%,5.2% and 3.9% respectively and this has increased to 19.7%,14.6% and 11.7% .
